Dear Cornerstone Family,
We are offering Spanish to our students on a daily bases. This is exciting and very rewarding. In this ever-changing world, we are becoming more of a global community and this opportunity will allow us to be more accepting and opened minded when it comes to people of other cultures. We are all God's children regardless of who we are and where we come from. As we learn the Spanish language our hearts and minds our opened to other people. The children begin to understand that there are others who are different from them but yet the same. Acceptance becomes a way of life.
I can see the difference already in the retention and use of Spanish within our students and staff just because we have classes daily. My goal as a teacher is to take the students to a level where they will have the foundation of knowing how the Spanish language works and to give them the tools that they need to expand their vocabulary.
We do most of our work in the classroom because I recognize that this is the place that they actually; for the most part, come in contact with Spanish on a daily basis for now. That does not mean however that they will never have Spanish homework (grades 3 and up). Do not be afraid of the fact that you as parents are not familiar with the language for when homework does go home I do my best for it to be something that we have seen in the classroom in such a way that it is review and they should do well on it. Like I always say to my students: "All I ask is that you
try your best. We will never know all the answers. We are here to learn."
Gracias, for the opportunity to teach your children. I considered this part of the ministry work that the Lord has entrusted to me.
Please feel free to contact me with any concerns in regards to your child.
